What is Intersectionality?
“I believe our identity is composed of thousands of molecules, which on surface may seem different. For example, one person might be a competitive sports player, a pianist, and an activist. However, on a deeper level, all of these traits are intrinsically and permanently linked because they are all a part of you. They all form the DNA fabric of your identity that cannot be replicated by anyone else in the universe.” -Arya

Intersectionality can also be viewed in the context of bias and limited opportunities. Often, these wonderful factors that form our identity may work against. For example, a woman minority may have to face bias both because she is a woman and a minority. This bias is not separated between each of these traits, but rather formed by their interlinkage.
Intersectionality by Arya is a project that aims to help others celebrate their complex identity, including multiple different traits and passions. Also, it will help viewers identify and combat societal factors that may limit someone from celebrating theirs.
